It is very important to visit the program web pages to clarify application pre-requisites
and other guidelines, prior to application. If TCC is currently accepting applications
for the specific program of interest, the program web pages will include a link to
access the online application.
Applicants will receive an email confirmation after they successfully submitted their
application. If they submitted, but an email wasn’t received, the applicant should
check their spam/junk folders. If they don't have the email, they should go back
in and fix the blank fields that prevented them from submitting – which will be highlighted
in red. If they did get the email, then they are good to go. If you have received
the email, please do not call and ask us to just double-check everything. No need
to call to double check.
If you are having problems with submission, please click the Help button and the application
vendor’s customer service will help you. If you have programmatic or clarifying questions,
please reach out to us at the TCC program specific email address listed on the application.
There's an option for new application after submitting. To apply for another program,
applicants can go to their dashboard by clicking on the home icon on the top right
corner of the screen. Then click Options -> Apply Again.
If it is a field that cannot be changed after submission, please contact support@embark.com.
Students must still submit by the July 1 deadline. Please enter the “in progress”
options available in the drop down menu for grade type/grade received. We will be
able to check your grade internally to verify the grade received for Physics 115.
Please check your Junk/Spam email folders.
We carefully review every application and work very hard to ensure equitable scoring
during our review process. All applicants will be subject to the same grade scoring
rubric, whether they have earned a numerical grade or a letter grade. When completing
the application, please enter the grade you received the outside institution. I
f you received an A- on your transcript, enter A-. If you received a 3.5, then enter
3.5. We will translate numerical grades into a letter grade, and each letter grade
is awarded a particular number of points.
Students can access their dashboard and it will reveal if their application has been
submitted or is still in progress, when the last updated, etc.
The earlier students know their acceptance status, the easier it will be to transition
to a full-time educational program. Please be assured it is to our mutual benefit
that we are working as quickly as possible to process all applications.
We did change our scoring system this year. Primary review consisted of looking at
GPA in pre-requisite courses, and also the number of hours providing direct patient
care experience. Top scoring applicants then were subject to review by a panel of
colleagues. During the last application cycle, the majority of top-ranking students
had over 900 hours of work experience. Application requirements may change slightly
from year to year, as can the number of applicants.
Student typically must have completed the pre-requisite courses prior to their application
process, as the grades in these courses are utilized in application scoring. There
are some exceptions to this rule. For example, Respiratory Therapy may allow some
co-requisites to be completed after students enroll in the program. The Nursing program
may allow students to apply if they are missing a pre-requisite, and the application
will be considered on a space available basis. The Sonography program, also offers
an exception to this rule with PHYS 115. Please see the program web pages for specific
information on pre-requisite exceptions.
It depends on how frequently a program admits new students. Typically program applications
are open from May 2nd, with a deadline date of July 1 for programs starting in the
Fall. However, Nursing Assistant, EMT, Paramedic, and Nursing programs have different
start times, and as such, different application periods. Please see the program web
pages for more information.
Immunization Requirements
At this time, TCC does not require students to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or have
an approved exemption.
Many of our health care partners require students to provide proof of full immunizations
or immunity by titer, with very few exceptions. Students must provide documentation
of current vaccinations and/or provide proof of immunity through: 2 step TB skin test
(PPD), and annual test thereafter or Quantiferon blood draw; Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria,
Pertussis), HepB (Hepatitis B) - 3 doses and a titer, MMR, Varicella, and annual influenza.
Please know that these are subject to change at the discretion of the health care
employer partners.
Clinical sites are carefully selected based on the educational needs of the student.
Students do not self-select where they will attend clinical practice.
Program Costs/Financial Aid
It is important to plan ahead for expenses beyond tuition, fees, and books. Health
Science students usually will pay for a number of supplies, and services related to
clinical onboarding requirements, including such things as background checks, vaccinations/titers,
Clinical Placement NW access for safety training modules, etc. Unfortunately, the
bulk of these expenses are payable as you begin your program. Please check the program
web pages for more specific information related to program costs.
Yes, financial aid is available and this also requires pre-planning. Please visit
the TCC financial aid web page for FAQs related to scholarships, financial aid, and alternative sources for funding for career
training through Workforce Education grants, or Veterans Affairs.
Tuition waivers typically are allowed on a space available basis. We are unable to
offer waivers in the selective admission programs, such as Nursing, Radiologic Science,
Respiratory Therapy, Paramedic, and Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
Transfer or International Students
Yes, international students are welcome to apply. There may be some limitations in
ability to participate in online instruction, however. Further discussion may be
needed to clarify each student’s unique circumstances.
International students must request an official international transcript evaluation
through an agency approved for Foreign Educational Credentials Evaluation Services.
Once completed, the student may submit the report to the TCC Credentials Evaluator
through Enrollment Services for assessment of transferable credit using the “Request
to Evaluate Official Transcripts” form.
TCC doesn't differentiate between the AP test scores when reviewing applications.
In other words, students do not get a grade equivalent, they just receive the credit
with a "S" grade. This is typically counted as a C grade for application scoring.
Professional Licensure/Credentialing
Many students attend college to earn a degree that prepares them for a specific field
or occupation regulated by state and/or other government entities. States and other
government entities have established standards of practice for the occupations or
professions they have chosen to regulate, and they provide legal permission ( a licensure
or credential) to practice those professions only to individuals who meet those standards.
Before enrolling, students should research that the program will meet the professional
licensure requirements in states where they will practice. Information is typically
located on the TCC program web pages.
Miscellaneous
It is very challenging to work and enroll health sciences programs, but it has been
done successfully be previous students. A typical daily schedule may range between
5 a.m.-11:30 p.m., depending on the clinical site availability, modality of the course,
and other aspects unique to the program.
