One of my favorite LC lectures
Because Allison and I have taught this class together for more than 8 years, we have
worked to continually update the design of the class and assignments, so I don’t necessarily
have a favorite since the assignments are all so good. My favorite part of the class,
however, is how students are able to earn credit for more than one class using one
assignment (or more) that intertwines English, Communications and College Success.
Our ideal LC student will
Our student is the person coming to school for the first time, returning to school
after a break, and/or someone who wants to focus on being successful in college while
balancing life and school. Our ideal students are anyone striving towards becoming
the best version of themselves, is interested in creating relationships and finding
connections, and wants to learn and have fun.
I love teaching in this LC because
This class is an on-ramp for many students, meaning students get to know the campus
and the multiple types of support TCC has to offer all while learning in an atmosphere
that promotes self-growth and confidence. We strive to build a sense of community
within the class. Students who have taken this LC in the past share that they felt
a sense of belonging and safety. I also appreciate my team teacher, Allison. We have
similar approaches to creating assignments and curriculum that is reflective in our
teaching styles. This makes the class interesting, and students get support from more
than one teacher.
In class I’m most likely to…
be a cheerleader and advocate for student and their continual success at TCC.
